Barriers and difficulties are commonplace in life. The best way to get through them is to plan how to overcome them. If there is a barrier that you experience often, think, is it possible to avoid it? For instance, if you know that going straight home after work means that you’ll get comfortable and not go back out to the gym – is it possible to take a gym bag with you to work and go directly to the gym after your shift ends?
Some barriers do not have a simple solution, but you can overcome them or find a way to manage them. For instance, does someone close to you say things to you that are discouraging? An example might be, “Don’t bother working out – it wont make a difference”. One way to overcome that particular barrier may be to have a thoughtful conversation with that person or to avoid that topic of conversation and focus on the positive aspects of your relationship. No matter how you handle it, please remember to NEVER give up! Work to change what you can and keep fighting on through the rest.
